I am so excited to share with you today a review on the custom wood cutouts that are provided by J.Rig Wood Works! I will also show you how to decorate these cutouts and give them your own personal touch. I received a custom monogramed pineapple and a snowman. You can order these cutouts in plain wood to decorate yourself or you have an associate of J.Rigs Wood Works paint them for you.

My first custom wood cutout was the pineapple. This piece is beautifully cut. The pineapple symbol of hospitality is cherished in my family. The details of the letter “B” are fantastic. The wood has a nice smooth finish. I did use a fine grain sandpaper prior to painting.
I love how the pineapple turned out! I added bright ribbons as an accent. This cutout would also look fabulous in a bright aqua or yellow if you had a dark wood finished door or black door.
The pineapple is of an impressive size, measuring 24 inches in height, 14 inches in width, and 1/2 inch thick. It is definitely visible and inviting as you come to the door.
For the pineapple I wanted a textured black paint. I wanted a textured paint because my door already had a smooth finish and I wanted some contrast. Contrast makes it a bit more interesting. I have yet to find a spray paint that has the texture and color combination that I love. To get the look I desired I started a layer of Krylon Stone Spray Paint in Obsidian. Once dry, I sprayed one coat of Rustoleum Semi Gloss Enamel Paint in Black. (Tip: I use gloss paint on all outdoor wood projects. If by chance the wood gets wet the water repels off a gloss paint much better than a flat paint.) Finally, I sprayed a quick coat of Valspar Premium Finish Gloss Sealant.
I use burlap ribbon to hang wood cutout from my door. The burlap matches my door well. If using burlap ribbon remember to fold the ends several times before attaching with a wood tack; if you don’t the ribbon will rip away when hung. I always attach foam bumper stickers to the back bottom of the cutout to prevent scratching of the door.
Next up was the snowman cutout! This cutout is super cute! I’m so impressed with the skill of the monogram! The snowman measured at 23 inches in height, 12-1/2 inches wide, and 1/2 inch thick.
I decided this guy will be leaning against a sled on my porch for the holidays. He would also look cute hanging on the door, sitting in an entryway or by the fireplace.
I placed the wood cutout in a large plastic bag and using painters tape, I covered and sealed off the body so I could paint the hat. For the hat I started with one layer of Rustoleum semi-gloss enamel paint. Once dry, I did a quick spray of Krylon Stone paint in obsidian to give the hat the look that snow flurries were on top. Let the hat completely dry. Remove tape and bag from cutout. Now tape off the hat with painters tape. For the body I used one coat of Valspar white primer. Once primer was dry I used one coat of Rustoleum’s Painter’s Touch paint in white.
I decorated the hat with pine and berry sprigs, small candied fruit, and a pinecone. Buttons were used to create the face. A piece of burlap ribbon was used to create a scarf.
Another paint option is a paint by Design Master Color Tex called Flurry. It is great to use over your white paint for a textured snow look. Flurry paint is water based so it needs covered with a sealant if wood cutout will be placed outdoors. Flurry paint is a seasonal item and was not yet available at Michaels craft store when I painted the snowman. You can find Flurry paint on Amazon from various sellers.
I am thrilled with the quality of these custom wood cutouts from J. Rig Wood Works! I look forward to purchasing more items in the future.
