The DIY Wellie Wishers series continues! American Girls Wellie Wishesr Playhouse is well….awesome! But, space in the playroom is a hot commodity; we just didn’t have room for the playhouse. Gradually over this series I will show you how a doll treehouse that we already had was transformed into a playhouse for the Wellies. Today I will share with you how to create the Wellie playhouse rug with a beautiful printable. I will also share with you how to create that adorable bird and nest that sits in the dormer of the AG Wellie playhouse.
Below is a picture of the rug imprinted on the floor of the American Girl Wellie Wisher playhouse. The bird below comes as an accessory to the American Girl Wellie Wisher playhouse; this little bird is a super cute detail to this set.
The rug in the American Girl Wellie Wisher playhouse reminded me of a mandala. A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe. The kaleidoscope of colors are beautiful!
I found gorgeous mandala clip art from an Etsy shop called PickAPixel. The owner and designer, Michal, gave me permission to provide a printable to my readers to use as a Wellie rug. You can find the shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/pickApixel
You can find the DIY Wellie Wisher Rug Printable here: wellie-wisher-playhouse-rug Simply print and cut!
The rug looks great at the playhouse doorway!
I found the perfect sized Wellie Wishers Birds and Nest at Michaels. These were found in the wreaths section of the store. The birds do have a tiny clip glued to the bottom of them; I left the clips in place in case they were needed to position the birds for display. I decided to keep both birds….since I have two daughters playing….no arguing! lol
The nest was attached to the playhouse window frame with a small amount of poster putty. They look right at home!
