In my previous post I showed you how I created a lantern for my front porch from a 5L Canning Jar. When I showed the lanterns to my daughters, one of them shot me a look of hurt. She immediately wanted to know if I had created a doll sized version of the lantern. Um…no…but I’ll get on it!
I already had a mini canning jar that I had purchased from Michael’s Craft Store that we had used as a cookie jar.
I filled the mini jar with white aquarium gravel. I hot glued a piece of red/white/blue grosgrain ribbon around the base of the jar. Dried hot glue removes easily from glass.
A standard tea cup light was too big to fit inside the mini jar. I used submersible LED Lights. These lights are found in the floral section of your craft store. They are meant to be put in vases of floral arrangements. You can get them in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes. I purchased min in a 12 pack from Amazon for $8. You have to remove a piece of plastic to activate the batteries. This particular type turns on by twisting clockwise.
My daughter gave me a thumbs up! Heaven forbid I forget to make something matching for the dollhouse!
Lucy is all done making her lantern. Now to sit back and relax with a patriotic slushy! Thank you so much to Maria of Mimi N Dooze for sending this adorable doll drink!
