Dollhouse Watermelon Wreath & Mat

June 10, 2016 By Brandy 8 Comments

dollhouse watermelon wreath on door

When I think of summer I think of picnics, corn on the cob, watermelon, lemonade, and picnics.  School is out and it is time to get the dollhouse festive for summer.  My love of doorway scenes continues!  I decided on a watermelon theme for June.  Today I will show you how my daughters and I created this super easy dollhouse watermelon wreath!

Supplies:  Felt-pink, light green, dark green, black.  Markers in coordinating colors of felt, ruler, scissors, tacky glue, and a Styrofoam ring.

I purchased my Styrofoam rings from http://www.thecraftplace.com/index.cfm/product/45_38/floral-wreath.cfm?CFID=2004812&CFTOKEN=4a5db4a9a45a26e9-8B7FD129-FF83-D270-26E912B868A51103 .

The size for this wreath was 3-1/2 inches.

Most standard felt sheets come in 9×12.  Cut strips of felt in ½ inch wide by 9 inch long strips, or wider if you desire.  Double knot tie each piece around the Styrofoam ring.  Alternate position of knot so you can get pieces positioned together tightly.

Arrange pink on top half.  On bottom half alternate light and dark green felt pieces.  I started out with two strips of dark green to one of light green.  I went back and added more of the light green.

Once done, trim of excess length until you get your desired look.  Make small tear drop shapes from the black felt and glue in place with tacky glue.

I found an image online of a watermelon wreath.  I printed it out and using spray adhesive glued it to thick black foam paper.  Cut to size.  This size was 5×7 inches.

Change up your flower décor by adding a coordinating themed ribbon.  Simply tape into place so you can remove it later.  Super quick and adds to your decorative details.

Change up an outside bench by adding coordinating pillows.  I chose pillows in pinks and greens to go along with the watermelon theme.

Jojo is all done decorating.  Now to sit back and relax with cold lemonade!  It is probably strawberry lemonade but for today it will be watermelon lemonade!

Where did you get the swing bench. You are amazing and wouldn’t be surprise if you told me that you made it.

Hi Malenie, the swinging bench was from Payne Street Doll Boutique. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. I would contact the Lemon Bay Doll Company to see if they have something similar. They do take custom orders.
