How to Make a Keurig for Your Dolls

how to make a doll keurig

You asked and I listened!  Today I will show you how to make a super easy Keurig sized for an American Girl doll.

doll keurig supplies

The main parts of this Keurig include: a Pringles can, the lid to a Dollar Store mini container, and the lid to an Orbit gum car cup.  If you don’t have a lid from a Dollar Store mini container you could simply use a piece of thick craft foam paper or cardboard cut in a 2-1/2 inch diameter circle.

doll keurig base

Cut the Pringles can down the middle on each side.  Cut down 3 inches and then cut across.  Using Alene’s Glass and Bead Glue or super glue, glue the Pringles can to the edge of the Dollar Store container lid.  I like using glass glue because the lid is slippery.  Put clips in place to secure cardboard to the lid.  You could use bulldog paper clips to secure in place as well.  Wait until glue completely sits and is dry.  Remove clips.

Paint all parts black: base and lid of Orbit gum.    I like to use spray paint for an even finish.  Once paint is dry.  Glue the lid on top of base.  Again, I used glass glue.

Now for the fun details!  Cut silver card stock paper into a circle to create a drip pan; use a star hand punch in the center and a black sharpie marker for extra dots (drain holes).  Glue in place with Tacky Glue.  For the lid I created side panels from silver cardstock paper and glued in place with Tacky Gue.  I created a center arm section from black foam paper.  Buttons were made from 1/8 inch and standard hole hand punches and foam paper in black and gray.  An additional button was made from an oval hole hand punch.  A piece of blue cardstock paper was used to make the light panel.  A label maker was used to make the “ready” and “Keurig” signs.  FYI foam paper that was used was self adhesive.  I used a silver Sharpie marker to create the look of an edge where a lifting cup would be.

Now the dolls are ready for a cup of Joe or Cocoa!  A doll cup fits perfectly under/inside!

steps to make a doll keurig

I love how the Orbit gum lid gave the top of the doll Keurig a slant…just like the real thing!  Honestly, any lid from a gum container can make a great Keurig or other Drink dispenser top!  And here’s another tip…a Tac Tac container makes a wonderful water reservoir for square Keurig versions.  A toothpaste cap with a paper lid would make a great k-cup!  Send me pictures of what you create and I will publish them in a follow up post!
