Patriotic Party for Dolls & Kids

patriotic party for dolls

One summer for Camp Doll Diaries I did a post on a patriotic party.  My girls pulled out all of these adorable decorations again this year and I thought they were  worth a repost!   This party could not have come together without the amazing printable from Laura Kelly.  The printable I used was her Patriotic Flower Party.  You can find Laura’s printable here:  http://www.shoplaurakelly.com/patriotic-flower-party-printable-set/.  This printable is very lively and fun.

After I downloaded and saved the printable I printed a set in standard size (1 page per sheet); these were saved later for a party I planned for my daughters.   Then I changed my printer’s settings to print 4 pages per sheet.  By doing this the images become a great size for dolls.

The invitation and thank you note were cut out and displayed.  A banner was made using Laura’s adorable characters.  I cut out each drawing and using an Aleene’s glue stick, glued to a coordinating colored stock paper and again cut out.  They with hung with mini clothespins.

I created a banner line by cutting a ½ inch thick dowel rod to 9-1/2 inches, placed a wood end cap on top, and painted white.  A small coping saw was used to cut the rod.  The rod was placed into a mini tin pail (wedding favor).  It was secured in place with a large amount of clay.  I then placed pennies in the pail to add weight to keep from tipping.  I hot glue flowers around a small piece of pipe cleaner and twisted that around the base of the rod.  Twine was tied to each top end.  The top of the rod was decorated with a piece of ribbon.

Mini (real) cupcakes were made and decorated with cupcake toppers created from Laura Kelly’s printable.  Mini wood sticks were used for the smaller cupcakes and standard Popsicle sticks were used for the large cupcakes.  To decorate the glasses of milk I used the flower graphics and tape.

Here are pictures of the surprise patriotic lunch party I threw for for my daughters that summer.   That is one great thing about these printables, you can size them how you want and print off as many as you need.

My daughters had a fabulous time!  They really enjoy Laura’s word searches and coloring pages.
