Tenney’s Tennesse Hot Chicken Truck

February 20, 2017 By Brandy 29 Comments

My daughters and I are so thrilled with American Girl’s new contemporary line of dolls!  The first being Tenney Grant!  We love her southern spunk and ambition!  When I found out that in Tenney’s stories, her mother owns a Tennessee Hot Chicken Truck, I new I had to recreate the scene!  The books describe the truck as “robin egg blue with Georgia’s Genuine Tennessee Hot Chicken painted in scrolling tomato-red letters along the side.  I knew immediately that the Our Generation ice cream truck would make the perfect Tennessee Hot Chicken Truck.  I have created a five post series dedicated to Georgia’s (Tenney’s mother) truck.  Today’s,  first DIY Tenney post will include two different tomato-red signs for you to choose from, a super cute menu, special’s sign, and decorative posters.  Later this week will be posts for the food trays and carry-out box, truck food, canning jar glasses, and Georgia’s apron.

I can just imagine Tenney playing her banjo and singing…“Georgia’s Hot Chicken!  Georgia’s Hot Chicken!  Get some quick before we’re all outta pickin’s!”

I created two different Georgia’s Chicken Truck signs for you…

Here is the printable for the sign pictured above:  Georgia’s Chicken Truck Sign 2

We chose to put another sign on the back of the truck.  You can use one, or the other, or both.  Here is the printable for the second sign option:  Georgia’s Chicken Truck Sign 1

This menu was inspired directly from Tenney’s books and journal.  I chose a chalkboard look for some southern country flare.  This large sign was placed on the other side of the truck.   We will discuss more about the menu in an upcoming post.  Here is the menu printable:  Georgia’s Chicken Truck Menu Sign

The truck needed some poster décor.  You will find a Tennessee Hot Chicken poster, sweet tea poster, Elvis poster, Bluebird Café poster, Taylor Swift poster, Patsy Cline poster, and a Grand Ole Opry poster.  Not pictured, are also posters for Dolly Parton and the City Music Center.  So you get 9 posters total.  Your Georgia’s Chicken Truck Poster Printable can be found here:  Georgia’s Chicken Truck Posters

And of course this Tennessee Hot Chicken Truck needs a Specials sign!  I will discuss this part of the specials menu in a upcoming post when I discuss the truck food!  What are you waiting for??!!  go get your Georgia’s Tennessee Hot Chicken Truck started NOW!  Get your Specials printable here: Georgia’s Chicken Truck Specials Sign

Thank you so much for this idea. I’ve been trying to come up with a birthday gift for my granddaughter and this is absolutely perfect! Did I happen to mention they moved to Nashville a year ago? I can’t wait to get started! Thank you so much for providing such wonderful inspiration.
