It’ time to head off to the game! The girls need to stay warm and comfy at the game so their big brother is bringing along the Doll Stadium Blanket and Cushion. My daughters requested a blanket that the dolls could carry and could be packed up in the doll car. I knew the blanket could not be bulky and take up a lot of space; it needed to be easily folded. AND my daughters wanted to use this blanket as the bedspread in the newly renovated collegiate camper. I will show you how I created a very simple and quick doll stadium blanket and cushion.
Most stadium blankets are fleece or wool. I chose fleece for the pattern, softness, and lack of fray. To create a pattern I taped together two pieces of thick cardstock paper to measure 11 x 15 inches. I placed the pattern over the area of fabric desired and cut.
Using sharp scissors I made 3/4 inch cuts around all sides of the blanket to create fringe. Make the width of each fringe to your desire, my cuts were about 1/2 cm. Just ‘eye it up.’ Your cuts do not need to be perfect. Make sure to leave an inch space (of no cuts) at each corner so you don’t accidently cut a square of material off at each corner…unless you desire that look. (Tip: removing the corner fabric does make the fringe a bit more noticeable.)
It’s that quick! Your Doll Stadium Blanket is done!
Get your renovated collegiate camper ready by using the seat cushion as the mattress and the throw pillows as the bed pillows. The Doll Stadium Blanket works great as a bedspread for the camper.
Dez is tired from the tailgate festivities!
I’ll briefly touch on the Doll Stadium Cushion. My daughters requested this last minute so I did not get step pictures. I used 1 inch foam and cut a piece 4 inches wide by 3-3/4 inch deep. I created a casing by folding the fabric over the foam and pinning each side. The foam was removed and I sewed each side shut, then trim off excess seam. Turn casing inside and iron on your image on the outside. An image was found on a Google search and printed onto Jolee’s Transfer Sheets (these sheets can be found at Michaels). Reinsert foam and fold in top seam. Tuck a ribbon into fold to create a handle. Sew closed.
The doll can easily carry the stadium blanket and cushion. And they are off to the game! Let’s Go Mountaineers!
Craft on!
Love your creativity
Thank you! 🙂
Love the stadium blanket. Cool idea that is simple to do. Thanks for all the wonderfully AG football posts!
These would make great gifts for fellow doll lovers too! Easy and inexpensive.
We have to make these items! I love the blanket.
Jill, the blanket was so easy. My daughters had their blankets finished in just minutes!
