Toothsome Chocolate Emporium for Dolls…Polymer Clay Chocolates, Macaroons, Cookies, & Cupcakes!

April 9, 2018 By Brandy 3 Comments

Today we continue our Toothsome Chocolate Emporium for dolls series with the DIY polymer clay chocolates, macaroons, cookies, and cupcakes.  When you walk into the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL you are greeted with the never ending rows of beautiful sweet treats.  The smells and colors truly delight the senses.  The steampunk atmosphere adds to the amazement!  A huge thank you goes to Miniature Sweet for being a sponsor in this series.   Today I will show you how you can create these treats from polymer clay that will be sized perfectly for your American Girl dolls.

Miniature Sweet offers amazing craft supplies for those loving to work with polymer clay!  You’ll see more what they offer in upcoming posts!

Below is one of the inspiration pictures that we took at our visit to the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium.  So many beautiful and scrumptious chocolates!

Below is a picture of our American Girl doll sized polymer clay chocolates.  These chocolates were baked at 275° for 6 minutes.

To create these doll sized chocolates we used a mold from Miniature Sweets.  You can find this mold here: Doll Chocolates Mold .  This mold was very easy to use.  I found that the stiffer polymer clays, such as Premo, was the easiest to use with this mold.  The sphere chocolates above were made without a mold; using blue and white clay rolled together.

Below is an inspiration picture of the macaroons from the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium!

Here is our American Girl doll sized polymer clay macaroons!  For more information on how to create the macaroon tray see here: http://brandyshappyhome.com/diy-counters-for-the-toothsome-chocolate-emporium-for-dolls/ .  These polymer clay macaroons were assembled together and baked at 275° for 16 minutes.  No adhesive was required; clay pieces adhere to each other  with baking.

To create these American Girl doll sized macaroons we used a mold from Miniature Sweets.  Click here for the Macaroon Mold.  This mold has three different sizes.  I used the middle sized mold, where the arrow is pointing.

To create the cream filling I rolled out polymer clay with my rolling machine and then used my circle clay cutter.  My roller was at setting 7.

These clay circle cutters were purchased on eBay.  I use these cutters frequently when making doll food.  I used my large gray end tip cutter to make the macaroon filling; see arrow pointing to cutter.  The grey cutter is 5/8 inch in diameter.

Below is a picture we took of the gear cookies offered at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium in Orlando, FL.

Below is the steampunk gear cookies we created for our American Girl dolls.  These polymer clay cookies were baked at 250° for 5 minutes.  I decided not to add the look of chocolate drizzle or sprinkles to these cookies because the image was already small and I didn’t want to cover and lose the gear impression.

These gear molds were sent to my by Mold Muse.  I used the two smallest molds to create the American Girl doll sized steampunk gear cookies.  You can find these molds here: gear 1 and gear 2.

Below is a picture of two of the cupcakes offered at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium!

Below are our American Girl doll sized Toothsome Chocolate Emporium cupcakes!  Cupcakes (minus toppings) were assembled (cup, cake, and frosting) and baked at 275° for 25 minutes.  Once completely cooled you can proceed with toppings below.

The mold used for the cupcakes is from Mold Muse.

To create the cocoa powder topping I used Fake Chocolate Powder from Miniature Sweet.  With a qtip I applied a very thin layer of Sculpey Satin Glaze to the frosting.  I then dipped a clean qtip into the fake powder and tapped the qtip over the frosting.  Let glaze air dry.  I used fake peanut flakes and fake chocolate flakes from Miniature Sweet to decorate the other cupcakes.  To attach the flakes I used a tweezer and dipped each flake into E6000 glue and placed on top of clay frosting.

These amazing Penelope and Jacques doll costumes are from KeLibu!

Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and her trusty robot companion, Jacques say, “Step right up and try one of our tasty gear cookies!”

Jacques is ready to bag up your sweet treats!  See here for your Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Doll Bag Logos Printable: Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Bag Logos
