Wellie Wisher DIY Treehouse Renovation

November 10, 2016 By Brandy 14 Comments

Today I will show you how I recycled a few doll items and gave them new life to fit into our renovated treehouse to become a Wellie Wisher Playhouse.  As I have mentioned before, my daughters and I LOVE the new Wellie Wisher line from American Girl.  The Wellie playhouse is super cute, but we did not have room for it in the play room/doll room.  Over the last several posts I have shared many DIY Wellie crafts…those crafts combined with a few recycled items have created our Wellie Playhouse.

I Love the little mailbox on the American Girl Wellie Wisher Playhouse!

I had already crafted a mailbox years ago!  I used a valentine tin, a candle stick holder, and a wood square…paint and glue together…done.

The AG Wellie bench is very cute…..but we did not need another bench.

We added some cute pink and brightly colored pillows to a swing bench we already had.

LOVE  LOVE  LOVE the bunny hutch for AG’s Wellie Wishers Playhouse.

We already had a bunny hutch.  This was from Payne Street Doll Boutique.

Wall art is adorable in AG’s Wellie Wisher playhouse.

I purchased an 8 x 10 wood frame from the Dollar Tree.  It was painted same green that I painted the Mud Pie Kitchen.  Using tin snips (and gloves) I cut a piece of galvanized steel to fit into the frame.  The backs of flower buttons were removed and magnets glued in place.  The magnetic board is a great place to hang your DIY posters. * Not pictured = 2 x 2 inch pieces of paper were cut and my daughters drew small images of their choice to be hung on the magnetic board…they drew shells, bugs, crowns, flowers, stars, and woodland animals.  When they get board with their art they can easily remove from board and draw something new.

The Wellie Wagon was cute but my daughters seemed disinterested and I was sure it would get much play.

We decided to use a wheelbarrow we already had…perfect for a garden…and perfect to push your friend around.

We did purchase the AG Wellie ‘Make it Great’ playset.  We will probably purchase the ‘Giggles and Grins’ playset…but for know we recycled a pair of Our Generation Sunglasses.  The “Nature Exployer Set’ pictured below was recycled with various OG items.

We already had an OG binoculars, canteen, and compass.  The OG bird seed and bird manuals were also used in our Wellie treehouse makeover.

My daughters were thrilled with their treehouse makeover into a Wellie Wishers playhouse!  Go through the doll items you already have and see what you can recycle / upcycle into your next project.

Craft on!  Brandy

Hi Lisa, the treehouse used in the renovation was made by Payne Street Doll Boutique. They are no longer building on their own, but they do offer plans and tips for DIYers. I would touch base with them and see if they have a plan of the treehouse to offer you.
